Mike Jones is a custom knife maker from Quesnel, BC whose passion for his craft is apparent in every piece he creates. He approached me for a new website that could showcase his work in a way that construed this passion, yet be clean, minimal and of course, look great. There is much more than meets the eye on this website and I worked very closely with Mike to makes sure it had everything he wanted and functions as smoothly as a well sharpened blade.
As always, my designs start with a sketch of what the site will (probably) look like. Of course things change as you go, moving and rearranging blocks to suit the layout, but the framework is there. Because Mike is a custom knife maker, his site is pretty deep and contains a lot of information. The main page of the site contains links out to much more, including a CMS page for each individual knife.
Mike is a full time knife maker that has built his business from the ground up, on his own. I wanted the design to communicate his commitment to his craft. Bold typography and strong imagery, clean minimal design with a lot of white space for readability.
Mike builds beautiful, functional knives for collectors, chefs, hunters and much more. The gallery was designed to showcase his amazing work in a way that wouldn't distract the viewer, linking the gallery image to it's own more detailed CMS page.
E-commerce has been added to the original design, allowing Mike to easily sell his knives worldwide. Powered by Webflow's new e-commerce platform and using Stripe for payment, this store functions perfectly.
I designed an adaptable quote form on Cognito Forms so potential customers could fill out specific details for a more accurate quote. Depending on which style of knife you choose, different options are available.
